Pilots are well aware of what the Civil Air Patrol is, but very few of us truly understand the vast scope and magnitude of the work it undertakes. Since the 1940s, it has played an essential role in keeping American citizens safe, and although the nature of its role has undergone significant changes over the years, its dedication remains unwavering. Nowadays, the primary mission of the Civil Air Patrol is predominantly search and rescue, yet there are numerous other mission types that many of us may not be familiar with.
