With Christmas Eve just a few days away, Santa’s big night is almost upon us. One can easily imagine the sense of alarm that spread when reports emerged from Sacramento stating that Santa himself had gotten his flying sleigh tangled up in power lines. Thankfully, this story has a delightful ending.
First and foremost, we are a bit perturbed that some are referring to Santa as a person donning a Santa suit. The correct term, of course, is “Santa.” But we shall let that pass for now.
The accident – well, Santa is human too (we presume), after all – took place on Sunday when Santa was giving his sleigh a spin and inadvertently ran into power lines in Sacramento County. Fortunately, the Fire Department was promptly on the scene to assist in getting Santa out of that precarious situation, a scenario he is quite accustomed to finding himself in, but usually with chimneys rather than power lines. So, this was quite a new experience for him, we suspect. Oh, and most importantly, he emerged completely unharmed. The CHP, which also responded, seemed to have a better understanding of the situation than the firefighters perhaps, that is, it was Santa himself!
And, no, we didn’t spot any reindeer either, so we are guessing Rudolph and his pals are all in good shape and hopefully getting some well-deserved rest before they embark on their long hours of hard work in their respective logbooks later this week.
