The recent viral video depicting a crew executing an extremely unsteady approach with a crash landing at Paro, Bhutan, vividly showcases how unprofessionalism holds no place in commercial aviation, especially when flying into one of the most challenging airports to touchdown in the world. To jog your memory, or perhaps the trauma from viewing has blocked those recollections, the video that went viral featured an Indonesian airliner being guided onto an approach so unstable that it had zero likelihood of culminating in a normal landing. Indeed, the 737 impacted the runway with such force that major components, such as flap fairings and gear parts, were damaged beyond repair. There is no word on whether the aircraft is salvageable. It was truly a brutal sight.
On the contrary, this one is still nerve-wracking, but in a way that a professional team engaged in a difficult task with utmost precision gives rise to. It’s a good kind of tension. Take a look.
